Why have auto insurance?
It's not only good financial protection in case of an accident; automobile insurance is required by Florida state law.
We represent insurance companies who will give you a wide range of good insurance policies at fair rates. In addition to these good rates, we have several discounts available, which will make your rates better still if you qualify.
Before deciding on a policy, make sure you know what the different parts of the insurance policies mean and what your personal needs are. Florida state law requires that you have at least a policy for $10,000 each in personal injury protection (PIP) and property damage liability (PDL). Other than that, there is collision and/or comprehensive coverage, deductibles, liability limits, and optional coverage.
Insurance Coverage Options
Personal Injury Protection and Property Damage Liability
PIP covers you and your family whenever you get into a crash, whether or not it was your fault and whether or not you were driving or just a passenger. This can include medical, rehabilitation, and funeral expenses, or loss of income due to injury. PDL takes care of property damage you or your family may have inflicted when in a motor vehicle collision.
Collision and Comprehensive Coverage
Collision coverage pays for damages caused by accidents. Comprehensive coverage takes care of damage caused by other means, including fire, theft, flood, vandalism, etc. This generally involves a deductible from $100 to $1,000, and insurance only covers costs in excess of the deductible. Higher deductibles translate to lower premium rates.
Medical Payments Coverage
After a collision, this coverage will pay medical expenses for you and anyone in your car who is injured. Health insurance may render this redundant.
Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Coverage
If you are injured by someone who has insufficient insurance, no insurance, or are involved in a hit-and-run, this will cover the expenses.
Optional Coverage
Optional coverage may include towing, rental cars, roadside assistance, or any other extra insurance options.
