In January 2005, we expanded our offices and relocated to a brand new state of the art building in Tamarac, Florida. In 1977, Sander Sokoloff loaded his family, including the dog, into their Oldsmobile station wagon and headed to sunny South Florida in search of new opportunity.

Sander first started Best Broward Insurance on South Dixie Highway in Ft. Lauderdale and quickly outgrew his space. In 1979, he approached Chief Dan at the Seminole Indian reservation in Hollywood about opening an agency on his site. “Within one week we had lines of people anxious to buy insurance…in the first year we had over 3,500 clients – some we’ve had ever since,” says Sander.

In February 1994, Barry Sokoloff joined the organization as an insurance agent. Later that year, they expanded to two centralized offices in Coral Springs and another in Plantation. At that time they were appointed as a general agent representing some of the most recognized insurance carriers, such as Travelers and Progressive. It was then the company really took off.  

Sander Sokoloff retired in early 2002, confidently leaving the company to his son Barry. In January 2005, Barry expanded the agency once again by relocating to a brand new, state-of-the-art building in Tamarac, Florida. “After many years of success,” says Barry, “we decided to update our identity and shorten our name to Best Insurance as we continue to provide the Best price, coverage and service to an expanded market.” Best is now licensed to provide insurance solutions in Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia.

As Sander Sokoloff looks back, he believes that providing reliability, service and always putting clients first was the key to success. After 30 years, Barry firmly believes that these tenets will drive Best Insurance into the future.
